About “AMVETS” American Veterans Mission and Charities
AMVETS (American Veterans) is the nation’s most inclusive Congressionally-chartered veterans service organization, representing the interests of 20 million veterans. AMVETS is open to and fighting for all who honorably served in the United States military, including the Reserve and Guard. With more than 250,000 members nationwide, we are veterans serving veterans.
AMVETS Mission Statement: To enhance and safeguard the entitlements for all American Veterans who have served honorably and to improve the quality of life for them, their families, and the communities where they live through leadership, advocacy and services.
AMVETS Charities participate in the Combined Federal Campaign through the Military, Veterans and Patriotic Services Organizations of America federation. Our Combined Federal Campaign number is 10519.
AMVETS Scholarship Eligibility, Information and Application
AMVETS is proud to offer scholarships/grants to our nation’s Veterans, Active Duty, Guard and Reserves; their Spouses as well as their Children and Grandchildren.
AMVETS scholarships are designed to fulfill a financial gap after all Federal/State grants and/or scholarships available to an eligible applicant have been exhausted.

Membership in AMVETS is open to a Veteran who is currently serving, or who has honorably served, in the U.S. Armed Forces from World War II to the present, including the National Guard and Reserves.

Yes! We have highly trained AMVETS Service Officers that. consult with individuals, collect their documentation, and aid in preparing claims for VA Disability Ratings and Compensation.

A local post may host fundraising dinners, Memorial Day Services, POW/MIA Observances, Veterans Day events, and various other events that members show an interest in hosting.

As an organization representing the interests of more than 16 million veterans and their families, AMVETS’ Legislative Team fights to address the issues that matter most to ALL American Veterans. Here are our current priorities: mental health/suicide prevention, electronic heal records. neuro-rehabilitative TBI care, increased DIC for survivors, POW//MIA, women veterans, and many other concerns. The same holds true at the state level.
The primary difference between these organizations is the eligibility for membership in each. AMVETS is open to ALL honorably discharged veterans, not just combat veterans or wounded veterans.
